Mahatma Gandhi is also called the ‘Father of the Nation’ of India and for good reason. He was a fearless man, a person who played a major role in leading our country to freedom from the chains of British rule.
Gandhi was the main propagator of non-violence. He was the one who popularised Satyagraha, which was protesting without non-violence. He also introduced the chakra, which symbolizes original khadi. Gandhi led many protests but he never resorted to violence.
Gandhi is known for the Non-cooperation Movement as well as the Civil Disobedience Movement was a nonviolent movement launched by Gandhi in which people only refused to laws made by the British. Gandhi also fought for the taxes to be lifted off the salt, one of the most essential commodities.
Gandhi was also a crusader for women’s rights. He also tried to eliminate the caste system. Gandhi condemned child marriages and male domination over women.
